Fellow Woodworkers,
If you want to build high quality, 18th century “federalist period” furniture, these kits are a great way to start.
With these kits you focus your energy on assembling, fine tuning and finishing your furniture, not searching for lumber, cutting patterns, then milling and carving numerous complex, curved surfaces.
Get started now by selecting a kit for a ball and claw foot chair, serpentine chest, Bombe chest or dovetailed drawer from those presented below.
Some very specialized tools are also displayed and for sale.
I wish you well,
Joe N.
About These Kits
In 1996, I attended a “going out of business” furniture auction at the Gulden Gallery in Aspers, Pennsylvania. I purchased kits for the furniture displayed on this website with the intention of building each piece myself; however, “life happened” and I never could find the time to start. These kits are now for sale for the price I paid in 1996 – see the Price List page for current pricing. These are kits, not assembled, finished furniture.
You should expect to do some sanding, assembling, gluing, carving and a bit of “on scene engineering” to complete each item. Each kit contains high quality mahogany furniture components with mortise and tenon joinery and dovetails throughout.
Common components, such as corner blocks, plywood backing, screws, etc. and upholstered components (seats, backs and arm pads) are not included in these kits.
